This is a simplified CT scanner. It does not look inside the object. Instead, at every angle θ it measures how much material lies along each parallel ray.
These measurements are the Radon transform. The reconstruction reverses them using filtered backprojection. The scanner chooses successive angles with a golden-angle rule, so even its early measurements are spread around the object.
Try this: Set the scanner to 8 angles and compare the image with 80 angles. The object is the same; only the available evidence changes.
