🎼 This time, I decided to invent a musical instrument that has no keys, strings, or buttons.
Instead, you play it by drawing.

Imagine a blank sheet of paper that can sing.
Draw a line from left to right, and it becomes a melody. A rising line produces ascending notes; a descending line produces falling notes. Draw several lines, and they sing together.
I built an interactive instrument that translates drawings into music in real time. You can choose different musical scales, switch between glass harmonica, marimba, strings, and bells, and add echoes.
There are four illustrated compositions to explore, each with a different character. You can also generate a completely new score, modify it, and export your creation as a WAV recording.

I tested the interface, audio synthesis, drawing controls, and exports in a browser. It works offline.
What interests me about this experiment is that a picture doesn't have a unique musical interpretation. Change the scale, instrument, or tempo, and the same drawing becomes an entirely different composition.
Perhaps every drawing contains a song. It just hasn't been given an instrument yet. 🌙
